Diy – Unicorn Galaxy Watercolor Shoes Tutorial (video)

I am absolutely SMITTEN with these Unicorn/Galaxy shoes!! I love how they look so magical and celestial 😉 For adults and kids alike! Here’s how to make them!

You will need:

  • White canvas shoes (check Amazon or Target)
  • Watercolors (I got my palette at Michael’s Crafts but you can use any)
  • Two paint brushes (the brushes used were also from Michael’s Crafts)
  • White acrylic paint
  • Scotch Guard
  • Masking tape (optional)
  • Sparkly ribbon if you need laces

Start on a covered surface. If desired, cover all rubber parts of shoes with masking tape (the watercolor will lightly stain the rubber but can be removed with a magic eraser). Pour a little bit of white paint into a shallow bowl. Using a stiff paint brush, flick the white paint onto the canvas part of the shoes. You can do as much or as little as you want! Let dry for about 10 minutes. (continued below the video…)

Water down the watercolor by dipping your second brush into water and then into the color wanted. Dab the color randomly onto the canvas. The color will start spreading around! Do the same with the other colors you want to use. Once happy with the design, allow shoes to dry completely – 24-36 hours for air dry or they can be placed in a clothes dryer after about an hour of drying time. The shoes will dry lighter than you see and if placed in a dryer they will go even more of a pastel.

Once dry, spray with Scotch Guard and allow to dry according to directions. Wear with UNICORN PRIDE!!
