Tennessee Onions

These onions are so good. The recipe uses three kinds of cheese for that extra deliciousness factor. You can mix and match different cheeses if you want, or even different kinds of onions. This makes a wonderful side dish that’s a good choice for a potluck or cookout.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Vidalia onions or similar sweet variety
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded Italian blend cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 13x9-inch baking dish.
  • Cut the onions into ¼-inch slices, separating out the rings.
  • Put them in the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the oregano, garlic and salt on top.
  • Cut the butter into 8 pieces, arranging them over the onions.
  • Sprinkle the cheddar and Italian blend cheeses on top.
  • Sprinkle the parmesan on top of that.
  • Bake for about 35 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbling.
  • Let it rest for 5 minutes then serve hot.
