- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion diced, small white
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 can diced tomatoes 14.5 oz can
- 1 can tomato sauce 29 oz can
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 cups short pasta
First, in a large pot over medium heat, warm the oil.
Stir in the diced onion and cook until soft and tender. Stir in the garlic and cook for one more minute. It will take around five minutes.
Then, stir in the ground beef and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook until no longer pink in color and drain any excess fat.
Stir in beef broth, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, granulated sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and spices.
Bring the whole mixture to a boil and reduce to medium heat to simmer for about 10 minutes.
Then, stir in the short macaroni and cook for another 10 minutes until the pasta is cooked.
