Fried cabbage with onions and bacon
This is a perfect wintertime comfort food if you like to whip up something quick and delicious for the whole family or your guests. It’s a perfect Sunday lunch idea that promises a lot.
- 1 Head of cabbage chopped
- 1 Onion chopped
- 2 tsp. Minced garlic
- 5 Strips of bacon cooked and crumbled
- Reserved bacon grease
- ½ tsp. Onion powder
- ½ tsp. Garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
First, in a nonstick frying pan over medium heat, cook the bacon and set aside to cool down.
In the same skillet, cook the diced onion until it’s softened.
Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
Stir in the cabbage to the pot and cover to cook for about 20 minutes.
The cabbage will simmer and will release all of its flavors.
Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Stir in the crumbled bacon and serve to enjoy.
