Fried cabbage with onions and bacon

This is a perfect wintertime comfort food if you like to whip up something quick and delicious for the whole family or your guests. It’s a perfect Sunday lunch idea that promises a lot.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Head of cabbage chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 tsp. Minced garlic
  • 5 Strips of bacon cooked and crumbled
  • Reserved bacon grease
  • ½ tsp. Onion powder
  • ½ tsp. Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • First, in a nonstick frying pan over medium heat, cook the bacon and set aside to cool down.
  • In the same skillet, cook the diced onion until it’s softened.
  • Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  • Stir in the cabbage to the pot and cover to cook for about 20 minutes.
  • The cabbage will simmer and will release all of its flavors.
  • Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Stir in the crumbled bacon and serve to enjoy.
