Ok here we go! I have completed week one of “Operation Get Fit” 🙂 drumroll please……
- Starting weight: 185.1
- Current weight: 179.6
YES! I lost 5.4lbs 🙂 I know a lot of that is water weight so I am not concerned with losing that much in my first week, however – moving forward I don’t want to lose more than 2 (3 MAX) pounds per week. Any more than that is just not healthy.

What I did:
I decided to join Weight Watchers online.
I did this because I am familiar with the process (my sister in law was on it) and I felt it would help with my biggest issue – overeating. The nice thing about Weight Watchers is that I can still eat what I want but instead of blindly eating whatever was there I can think about it more and see how many points it is. I discovered that a Pillsbury Chocolate Chip cookie was 3 points (I am allotted 28 per day). I was eating 4 or 5 at a time! So yes, I can STILL have them, but it will cost me. There are also no-point foods like fruits and veggies, so if I do get hungry I am not simply depriving myself. I can eat, I just need to think about how I eat. I am not doing the meetings, which is nice that I don’t necessarily have to. All I need to do is keep track of my food/progress on my phone app. It’s crazy-easy and under $20 a month, so worth it for me.
I am drinking more water.
Want to know a secret? Drink a 16.9 oz bottle of water before every meal. Chug it. This will help in 2 ways: You will feel fuller so you will eat less; water helps you digest and break down foods more efficiently. Think of it like this – your car needs oil to make everything go where it needs to go and do what it needs to do. Water is like that for your body.
I am snacking less at night.
YES. I do still snack a little at night. It’s a habit I need to break. But one habit at a time! I am starting to eat earlier in the evening and cutting myself off instead of bringing something yummy to bed to eat while I watch tv. Eventually this will get better.
I am eating breakfast.
I never ate breakfast before – It was always coffee and then “oh crap, it’s 2pm, I better eat”. Then it was like a green light to eat for the rest of the day. Eating breakfast – especially something high in protein – has started helping me curb those cravings. So when I make breakfast for the kids, I make some for myself too.
I have a SUPER yummy and nutritious lunch or dinner option coming up on Thursday – so be sure to look for it. It’s SO good and only 7 WW points. SCORE 😀
