True Blue Friends: My BFF and How YOU Can Win Jeans For You And a Friend From J.Jill! Ends 2/26/14 #JJillTrueBlue

Life She Has
True blue is a phrase that is defined as follows: completely faithful and loyal to a person or cause. We use the term often in conversation, especially when referring to a true blue friend. This February, J. Jill is celebrating true blue in every form from classic denim to friendships that last forever. As part of the J.Jill Life Stylers network, I want to share with you my true blue friend and invite you to tell me about yours for a chance to WIN some J.Jill True Blue Jeans for you and a friend.
When I became pregnant with my twins I joined up with an iVillage chatroom for expectant moms. The room was full of pregnant moms who were due to give birth in April 2010. I was used to the chat forums in iVillage, as I was active in the TTC (Trying to Conceive) and IVF rooms. I met and still stay good friends with many women from those groups.
When I joined the April Expecting Board I introduced myself. Not long after my now best friend Bridget joined. About 6 months into our pregnancies we both discovered we lived in Oregon. When we started talking more we found out we were both close to Portland, then wow – we live in the same town?!
Come to find we lived only about 4 miles away from each other! By this time we were heavily pregnant and I was on bedrest, so we decided to meet after our babies were born and we were settled. We met at the local Starbucks near me and introduced our babies to each other.
We became fast friends and started meeting regularly at that Starbucks, then started having playdates at each other’s homes. We’ve been besties evert since. We’ve added other awesome friends to the pack – Cassee, Joanna, and Jana, the ladies who are regularly up for ditching the kids with the husbands in favor of sushi and wine with us.

One thing I can tell you about Bridget is she is always there if you need her. I can text her at 2am and know she’ll answer. We can talk to each other about anything and everything – and often do! Bridget is a friend that I know, without a doubt, will be friends til the end. She and I will be sitting with our other awesome besties Cassee, Joanna, and Jana somewhere at a nursing home saying inappropriate things. I am almost sure of it!

Life She Has

  1. My best friend just moved to California, and I live in New York. We have a long distance best friendship now. 🙁 Thanks! katieamanda1(at)yahoo(dot)com

  2. My best friend has been a part of my life for 17 years, we instantly became friends and we are so much alike. She has always been there for me no matter what and has been there for me through some very dark times (when my daughter was stillborn, when my dad died unexpectedly) and I couldn’t thank her enough for all she’s done for us. She’s been there through the good too, of coarse and I love her just as much for that too.

  3. I love the story of your friendship <3 My BFF is Lisa. We met when I was 4 and she was 3 we grew up with one house between us. We had tin can phones that ran from her bedroom to mine that we used until we were teenagers 😉 Friday nights we stayed at my house Saturday nights at hers. Sunday nights we watched The Wonderful World of Disney in front of my tv and Monday nights Little House on the Prairie on hers. We don't live as close as we used to but we are always there for each other…births of children, deaths of family member, etc. I couldn't ask for a better best friend. I know it's rare to have the same best friend forever but seeing as I am going to be 48 this year I think 45 years is pretty dang good.

  4. I spent the first 29 years of my life without a best friend… moving every year made it hard to trust and hard to get to know anyone. But that all changed last year when I met Marissa!

I met her through work, we (my biz partner/boyfriend and I) were hired to replace her roof. Within the first 5 minutes of meeting her to do the quote, we were chatting and laughing as if we had known each other for years! I have never in my life instantly hit it off with anyone like that, and when we left that day I could not wait to hang out with her again, even if it was only to fix her roof.

But Marissa wasn’t happy with just a professional relationship, either – we quickly started talking on the phone every day, and I think the longest we have gone without seeing each other since this started is a week!

In the 7 months that we have been friends, we have helped each other bear the loss of our Dads, the issues of being single moms, of raising kids who have some special needs, dealt with turbulent relationships and even helped each other handle Christmas on severely strapped budgets. It takes a village, as they say, and Marissa and her sons are now a part of my family. I love her boys like they are my own, and she loves my daughter too.

Without her, I would not have gotten through some of the things that have happened. I hope we are friends for the rest of our lives, because I cannot picture a day where we don’t talk!

  5. I’ve known my best friend since we were 4 and in the same Sunday School class. We went to school together, inseparable until I moved away in the 8th grade. We’re old now, live in different cities, but still have the same close bond we developed over 50 years ago. Love you, Linda!!!!

  6. I’ve known my best friend since high school and we have been with each other through good and bad times. We email and travel to see each other.

  7. the greatest thing about my best friend is we can share stories, get advice, laugh, cry etc… it’s so nice having someone always there to talk to!
