Yesterday I got the chance to meet with Jacob, the Intel Expert at Best Buy in Cascade Station (Portland, Oregon), one of the 50 Intel Experience Stores in the U.S. OMG I saw so much! Jacob was extremely knowledgable of the Intel Experience. He mentioned his in-depth training that took him to Minneapolis to get elbows deep into the latest Intel Processors.
All set up to demonstrate are:
The NEW Ne-Yo Remix Experience – Music star Ne-Yo’s songs and dance are in your hands while you remix using Intel technology.
Off-Roading on Mars – Did you know that the Mars Rover has Intel Inside? Best Buy’s Intel Experience has a whole setup using tablets and their built-in camera to bring you a whole new way of gaming.
One of my big questions – how much memory can the new Intel Processors handle? I run a lot of programs and find that my laptop lags. Jacob said I would be shocked and impressed with how much I can do and how fast I can do it. I can run Photoshop, movie editing software, Chrome, and many other heavy programs with ease thanks to Intel’s state of the art processing. I think I’m in love!!
The 3D printer? WOW. I knew that they existed, in fact my friend Kyle over a Laika uses them for 3D modeling (most recently used on the film The Boxtrolls). But now they are getting more and more affordable for the consumer – you can pick one up at Best Buy for just $999.
So Jacob pretty much has me convinced. I am hoping to be able to afford this Dell with Intel in the near future and all of my slow computer issues will be solved!
While most (79%) of Americans are excited about the chance to learn and try out new technologies, half are frustrated by the lack of access to them beyond what they read or see in the media, according to a new study by Intel and Toluna.
That’s the reason why Intel and Best Buy are now teaming up to bring new Intel Technology Experience zones to 50 Best Buy stores in major markets across the U.S. The Intel Technology Experience lets customers – from tech enthusiasts to technophobes – play, explore, and be inspired by the power of technology with hands-on activities like 3D printing and virtual reality games. For many, this is the first opportunity to see, touch, and play with exciting new technologies they’ve only heard about.
Averaging 240 square feet, the Intel Technology Experience will show customers the power of Intel: the technology behind these new, innovative activities is the same power behind the devices like tablets and laptops we love and rely on every day. Customers can build and print their own 3D robot, show off their racing skills on Mars in an augmented reality world, master beats and remix tracks by Ne-Yo as a digital DJ, and check out the latest PC and tablet devices powered by Intel processors.
The area will be staffed by specially trained Best Buy Blue Shirts (like Jacob) to answer questions and help customers make the most of each area within the experience. Each season, Intel will refresh the venues with a new array of technology experiences.
