RIP Cory Monteith

May 11, 1982 – July 13, 2013


Actor Cory Monteith was found dead in a Vancouver, BC hotel room. He was 31.

Cory was to check out of his Vancouver, BC hotel The Fairmont Pacific Rim on July 13th. When he failed to do so hotel personnel entered the ro0m to check on him and found him dead. Although drugs are suspected to play a role in his death, the coroner will not confirm it until his autopsy on July 15th. Homicide/foul play has been ruled out.

Monteith was most known for his role as Finn on Fox’s hit show Glee, whom he played from 2009 until present. Prior to Glee he had small roles in films such as Final Destination 3, Urban Legend: A Bloody Mary, and TV show Smallville. 

Monteith had been dating Glee costar Lea Michelle had been dating for a year and a half up until his untimely death. Although there were several rumors of an engagement it was never confirmed by the couple. Lea Michelle did not release any official statement about the death of her boyfriend, only asked for privacy while she grieves this devastating loss.

Cory had been in an out of drug rehab, most recently completing a rehab program in April of 2013. His substance abuse problem started at the young age of 13 and spiraled out of control until a family intervention when he was 19. It was after he completed rehab that he began acting, but returned to drug use at various times throughout his career until his death.

The entertainment industry mourns a tragic loss of a bright star, who’s light went out way too early.
