Before I was pregnant I learned to knit. Some of you might know that I had many, many struggles with infertility, so I knitted as a way to pass time between treatments while wistfully dreaming of a little one to knit for. Lucky for me, IVF worked and I not only got one, but two beautiful babies to knit pretty things for!

I started like most people do knitting – scarves. I knitted like 5 scarves before I decided to try my hand at something new – hats!

These were two of my own made-up creations that eventually went on the soft baby heads of Dylan & Riley 😀

After having my twins I started my site, started a few other things, and knitting went by the wayside. Then I forgot. I forgot how relaxing knitting could be. I forgot that little *tick tick* of the needles as I knit and purl rows. I forgot about the creativity that goes into needle and yarn work.

Then We Are Knitters reminded me. Screen Shot 2014-10-23 at 10.49.49 AM

The lovely team at We Are Knitters contacted me and asked to reintroduce the art of knitting back into my life. They sent me a kit to make The Empire Snood (which I happily accepted!)

The wool yarn is soft and thick, the needles are perfect and great quality, and the instructions were very easy to read. Plus I got a little label to sew on the inside of my new snood!

The project only took an afternoon to complete. I had to re-teach myself the basics, but I was able to do that quickly – The video tutorials on the site were nice to refer to as well!

Before I knew it I was well into my Empire Snood project:

I also remembered that old knitting phrase “Let me do just one more row…” That one row turned into 10, then I realized I was more than halfway there, might as well finish it, right?

I LOVE that I took time for myself (in the name of working – HA!) and made something lovely. I am beyond happy that We Are Knitters has opened up my world again to the relaxing art of knitting. I am excited to tackle more projects – like this super adorbs Juliet Tee:

  1. This is a very cool kit. I tried my hand at knitting a few months ago. I purchased a knitting tutorial class from a blog & quite honestly the person teaching the knitting was going way too fast I could not make heads or tails of how to do anything! LOL but I have not given up. I learned how to crochet a long time ago but it’s nothing serious I can make a basic blanket or scarf. I’d love to learn how to make hats and stuff like that. Both knitting and crocheting. This kit looks pretty cool though
