During my vacation to Anaheim I got the chance to visit Medieval Times in Buena Park, CA. I hadn’t been there since I was about 15 years old – a teenager who was basically dragged there by my family. Although I did have fun, I didn’t really allow myself to truly enjoy it. I mean, I was a teenager, I didn’t want to hang with the family! I’m so glad I got a chance to visit it again – and let loose with the excitement!

Surrender to an age of bravery and honor and witness epic battles of steel and steed during our ALL-NEW SHOW. From ringside seats, discover a feast of the eyes and appetite with more action, more fun & more excitement than ever before. As you thrill to a rousing live jousting tournament, marvel at awe-inspiring horsemanship and falconry, Medieval Times serves a four-course meal fit for royalty.

Hang on to your helmet. The show is about to begin.

My twins were super excited to go. Dylan is very into knights, kings, and battles (as any typical 5 year old boy usually is), and Riley… well Riley is into food. She didn’t get excited until I said we were having a medieval feast – then her eyes lit up. Did I mention she loves food?

We got there and right away there was excitement brewing. The King was “knighting” special guests – birthdays etc – and gathering a crowd. We made our way to our seats and found out we were on the GREEN Team – we cheered for the green knight all evening! And I will say – we did get the best knight 😉 He even gave Riley a flower!

The battles were expertly choreographed – jousting, sword swinging, throwing around maces on chains – and  even though it all hit the shields HARD, none hit the actual actors. But it was SO real – especially for the kids. They cheered on our green knight until the very end. Although our knight – who bore a striking resemblance to Chris Hemsworth (Thor!) didn’t ultimately win, he did put up a good fight.

Overall is was a fantastic experience for grownups and kids alike. The battles were exciting, the horses were gorgeous, and the staff was friendly. I can guarantee you that next time we are in Southern California we will be visiting Medieval Times again! Visit a location near you for an unforgettable experience.
