We never eat all of the produce we get in our large Farmers Market Baskets, so this time around we opted to get a small basket. I wasn’t super thrilled with this week’s haul. I was really hoping for more broccoli or cauliflower as well as some regular lettuce. And, I’m not a big fan of cabbage at all, so I’m not sure what I’m going to do with that. A friend of mine sent me a recipe that she says seems to mask the taste of the cabbage. I may give that a try. We’ll see.

What I got this week (please pardon my messy counter!):

  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 watermelon
  • 1 hydroponic lettuce
  • 1 bunch bananas
  • 1 tomato
  • 3 white potatoes
  • 2 oranges
  • 1 onion
  • 2 squash
  • 2 ears of corn

The corn, tomato and onion will be used this weekend as we are cooking out at my in-laws’ cabin in the mountains. I’m looking forward to grilling the corn (my first time to do so!). I’ll probably boil the potatoes because it’s such an easy way to cook them. And the squash? I may get some zucchini and mushrooms and use all of that to make my veggie pasta.
