I got my Farmers Market basket this week after missing a couple of cycles. It’s a pretty good basket, though I’m a little iffy about the lettuce I got. One is hydroponic lettuce, which one of my friends said wasn’t too good. The other, which I thought was some kind of lettuce, is kale!  Thanks to our awesome readers to let me know about that!!

Here’s the rest of my basket. There’s not a ton to work with for multiple dishes, in my opinion.

  • Hydroponic lettuce
  • Kale
  • 2 onions
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 4 oranges
  • 2 bell peppers (one I had to toss because it was bad)
  • 6 sweet potatoes
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 bunch of bananas
  • 6 apples
  • 1 head of cauliflower
  • 1 head of broccoli

The majority of it I’ll probably use to make a salad. I’m going to use the kale to make kale chips, which I’ve heard are really good. I think I’ll roast the cauliflower, and tonight I’m making broccoli with garlic. The lemon will be used to flavor my water, and the rest of the fruit will be eaten as it is. I have no idea what to do with the sweet potatoes. I’ve never cooked them before because I’m not a huge fan. I guess I can bake them or cut them up and make sweet potato fries. Do you have any good sweet potato recipes? Please share them with me in the comments!
