Broadway in Portland is pleased to announce its 2018/19 Season with a schedule full of classic, familiar titles and brand-new productions.The 2018/19 Season starts with ON YOUR FEET!, the inspiring story behind the music and inside the lives of Emilio and Gloria Estefan, pop music sensations who, in the face of adversity, found a way to end up on their feet. This is followed by one of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s finest works, THE KING AND I, based on the Lincoln Center Theater production and featuring a score of beloved classics.
Next up is COME FROM AWAY, the true story of the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed a world of airline passengers on the heels of 9/11. An extraordinary theatrical event comes next with the hit Broadway musical Disney’s ALADDIN which soars to new heights.
Then in spring, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new high-octane hit SCHOOL OF ROCK makes its Portland premiere! Based on the iconic Jack Black film, the story follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who turns a class of straight-A students into grade-A rockers.
The subscription season rounds out with the new production of Roald Dahl’s amazing tale of Roald Dahl’s CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. It’s the perfect recipe for a delectable treat: songs from the original film alongside a toe-tapping and ear-tickling new score.
The final show is the season option WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixing audiences with its wildly inventive and heart-warming story of the unlikeliest of friendships! WICKED will send your spirits soaring to heights you’ll never forget.
