Ok, so I need a new car. My poor Land Rover has seen better days, plus it’s pretty outdated. No bells and whistles. Heck, the stereo isn’t even great! So I JUMPED at the chance to review the 2012 KIA Sorento SX!

Check out my video review!

WOW. I think this is the car that every busy parent needs. It’s not a minivan so you don’t lose your “cred” and become the typical soccer mom, BUT it has all of the features and room you need for your family:

  • Dual-zone fully-automatic climate control
  • Roof antenna
  • Audio system with AM/FM radio, CD player (reads MP3 format) ; includes RDS , digital radio and satellite radio
  • Cargo capacity: 72.5 cu. ft. w/rear seat down and 9.1 cu. ft. all seats in place
  • Outside air temperature indicator
  • Intelligent driver front airbag, intelligent passenger front airbag with occupant sensors
  • Front driver seat : heated, ventilated, bucket with five 10-way power ; details: memorized height, power lumbar and memorized tilt, front passenger seat: : heated, bucket with two power adjustments
  • Garage door opener
  • Interior dimensions: 39.2 in. front headroom, 39.2 in. rear headroom, 56.3 in. front hip room, 55.9 in. rear hip room, 41.3 in. front leg room, 37.6 in. rear leg room, 59.3 in. front shoulder room and 58.7 in. rear shoulder room
  • Memorized adjustment: includes door mirror position
  • Navigation system with full map and voice
  • Rear camera & radar parking distance sensors
  • Card key power locks
  • Front and rear curtain airbag
  • Seating: seven passengers
  • Front side airbag
  • Voice activating system for phone

and much more!

My favorite features are by far the keyless ignition and keyless entry. I hate trying to find my car keys at the bottom of my purse and with the KIA Sorento I just have to have my keys somewhere with me and I am golden. So smart.

I also love the rear camera feature – I am always so worried that I will back into something and this way I KNOW I won’t!

The interior is huge too! I can easily fit two car seats in the back, but in case I have other passengers there is a 3rd row I can pull up.

And of course – cargo space! Needed when you have a family of 4.

I love this vehicle and am now considering it for my new car – it has everything I would need as a busy mom of two! Plus it’s a cool vehicle!

  1. I love the fact that while juggling kids, groceries and my bag that I don’t have to fish out my keys. And the rear view camera – a must have! I can’t wait to get our new car! We are a 1 car family right now — been saving up for 3 years so we can pay cash! Time to start narrowing down our choices! 🙂

  2. Nice review! We’ve had our eye on mid-sized SUVs and Kia is definitely climbing the charts. It was nice to see the car from a normal person’s point of view. This might be one that gets on out “test drive soon” list!

  3. Hey, I’m just glad to run across another mom with pink hair! Seriously though, we’re going to need a new car, and this is definitely at the top of my list. I do love our minivan, but this might be just a *bit* cooler. I love that it seems to have plenty of room for all the kids, plus room for all my husband’s music gear. I especially love the rear camera. Living in the mountains, backing up can be a hazard not just for kids (which scares the heck out of me and I would LOVE the camera for that) but for your bumper as well. It can be really hard to tell how close you are to things behind you when you’re backing up into a curve on a narrow, winding mountain road. Thanks for a review that was actually enjoyable to read and watch. 🙂

  4. Thank you so much for doing this review. My husband and I have been in the market and you really showed off the features. I am taking to my husband to go test drive this this weekend.

  5. I am NOT a minivan mom (no offense to those who are) I am much more of an SUV mom and this was an excellent review that could really be a contender for my next car! While I normally gravitate towards bigger SUVs gas is getting crazy and the Kia Sorrento looks large enough to handle all of my kids plus more! Awesome review, thanks!

  6. Thanks for the comprehensive review. As a Mom of 6 kids I’m getting a bit sick of the usual run of the mill minivans. My hubby promised me a new “cooler” car for Xmas and I love this. I only learned to drive a year ago and I still get nervous when reversing so I love, love the backup camera. Keyless entry?…yes please!

  7. Thanks for the review – I soooo need a car that has the ability to see what’s behind it. I can barely back out of my driveway with my car. I love the fact that it’s not too big but has lots of seating options. Definitely worth a test drive!

  8. Wow, this car sounds so cool and very modern. We are currently looking so save the money to purchase a new car, I will certainly check out the Kia Sorento.

  9. I wouldn’t have though of a KIA before, but I have been seeing a TON of reviews like this! I guess they’re pretty good! Good to know. THankS!

  10. LOTS of great info! Thanks so much for sharing. I’m currently driving a 2005 Ford Freestyle, but disappointed that there is not a newer model. This Kia seems very comparable. I’ll definitely check into it when I car shop next. 🙂

  11. Thanks for an honest up front review. Living in the Northeast I am thrilled to hear about the heated seats..they come in great on mornings like today (28 degrees when we woke up). I love the idea of the keyless entry also.. I too am one of those who is always fishing in my purse when I come out of a store. I am happy to see the back up camera.. I honestly have a horrible time backing up and this would be so helpful to me. We have been looking at local dealers for a new vehicle and will now definitely broaden our search to include Kia.
